How I Got a Job By Tweeting and Blogging

Once in a while, you just wish the universe would throw you a bone. You count your lucky stars and hope that things will go your way. These have been my thoughts while job searching as of late. I have been searching for jobs as a dietitian/nutritionist.

Well, it just so happened that on Twitter one day, Bess, a fellow Hollaback Girl, tweeted at me and said she happened to meet someone looking for a dietitian where I live. The tweet led to a message, and another message led to an interview for my dream job.

Anyway, the story continues… I went on the interview, and everything went as well as could be expected, but I still (two weeks later) haven’t signed any employment papers, and I do not work at this job yet. We will see what happens. If the job works out in the end that would be the definition of saying “job searching is all about who you know.” Meanwhile, I continue to look for new opportunities.

But let’s just appreciate the amazing power of the Web! If I had not started a kick-ass blog, had not been a part of the fabulous Hollaback, and had not been obsessed with Twitter, it’s unlikely that this opportunity would have crossed my path.

Additionally, while starting my blog almost a year ago, I read a few reviews on the topic of making money while blogging. Most experts agree that you can make the most money blogging if you let your blog fuel your career. This is one of my goals in blogging, and I plan to let my blog evolve as my career changes.

So take my advice: If you want to make money off your blog, talk to everyone you know and don’t know, and don’t rule out the internet’s social media outlets as a source for networking!

Ok, this is not NEARLY as cool as a job. But I asked for a chocolate peanut butter cake recipe on twitter and ended up with an AWESOME recipe that tasted delicious. Much better than the ones I was finding. Yay twitter!

Wow! That’s awesome. I don’t think I’m very good at this whole Twitter thing. I don’t have very many followers, and I never seem to know what to write, haha. I guess I just don’t get it.

I would love if I could someday have a side business or a book deal, that’s my ultimate goal. Thanks for the post!

I wish that someone would just pay to be awesome. That’s probably all that my website will do for me right now. Any takers?
